I was lucky to see the new Tesla Model X when travelling in Canada recently. In true Tesla style, the showroom was as far away from the expected as it is possible to be. Indeed, just one Tesla takes centre stage in a smart street frontage showroom. But, when it is Tesla, does it need more than one?
Engaging your staff is one of the single most important elements when it comes to a successful environmental management strategy. It is not enough to simply assume they either understand what you are trying to achieve, or even buy into it.
The Southern Sustainability Partnership reports an excellent response to its first business Expo in support of energy, waste and environmental management.
Greendale has recently become members of the Green PEA programme. The Green Positive Environmental Action (PEA) is an innovative energy and cost saving certification scheme that offers business members a free energy usage survey and provides recommendations for energy saving measures.

In a rapidly evolving world of technology, the electric bike, also known as a pedelec (pedal electric cycle), has definitely gone under the radar. However, according to figures released by HMRC, UK sales doubled in 2015 and yet relatively speaking, even at that growth, demand in the US and Europe, particularly Germany, where over 500,000 were sold, has increased at a significantly higher rate.
The question, of course, is why?
With energy being in the top three costs for most organisations, our utilities expert Tony Fisher from Commercial Energy Broker SwitchedonSavings, makes sure he stays in touch with valuable updates on the electricity and gas industry.

As editor of Green Business Dorset I invited myself along to Brittany Ferries’ facility in Poole for a meeting with Sarah Newbury, UK Freight Accounts Supervisor and Keith Baker in charge of Maintenance at the Poole Brittany Ferries site, to discuss just some of the ways in which they are putting their environmental management strategy into action.
The price you will pay for not taking time to understand your electricity bill may be a tough lesson to learn, says Green Business Dorset expert Tony Fisher of SwitchedonSavings. The devil is in the detail, he says, and it’s vital to understand the information presented to you.
Understandably, due to the stresses of running a business what can be considered of less importance today may well be increasing in importance thereafter if you are paying too much – or even too little for your electricity. Very few businesses can afford to overpay a bill today, and how catastrophic would it be to actually be accruing debt for your business as a result of underpayment.
Improve the environmental footprint of your organisation with the latest in printing solutions.
‘Saving the planet shouldn’t have a price’, was the message from Carbon Neutral Printing in Romsey as they launched their new printer at The Big Green Event 2016, held at the Hilton Ageas Bowl near Southampton.

As Editor of Green Business Dorset I have been fortunate to be able to talk to many businesses and organisations about their environmental management journey.
Not only that, but I have spoken to many more green supply businesses about their customer case studies.
The one common denominator for all the stories is the money that has been saved as a result of adopting a green business strategy.

Royal Liverpool NHS Trust
The Royal Liverpool NHS Trust are proud new owners of 15 Climateq Attendant controls which they plan to install in their Dental Department.
The problem the Trust is facing is occupants leaving windows open while the air-conditioning is still on.
This clearly wastes a huge amount of energy but is also responsible for damaging expensive air conditioners which have to work overtime trying to cool the room down to temperature.
The Trust have therefore also ordered 50 Attendant window sensors to go with their controls.
