The Cost of Water Inefficiency

I have been working with Southern Water on water efficiency projects for years, from partnering up on University research projects, subsidizing 1,700 water butts for residents and providing offers to residents.

imageOver the last year Southern Water has been running an innovative scheme to provide free home/business visits and measures to certain customers to help reduce their consumption. Southern Water are looking to offer the scheme to thousands of Households and small businesses across their area over the next few years. Having promoted the scheme to our residents, it suddenly dawned on me a few weeks back that I hadn’t taken them up on the offer myself. The following is a summary of my experience this week. Green PEA Scheme Success

In November 2016, after a record number of nominations in the 2016 awards, The Green PEA Scheme was awarded Highly Commended in the Energy Managers Association Awards. The award ceremony took place as a part of The Energy Managers Exhibition Event. Paul Cooling, Chair of the Green PEA scheme. “It is a great achievement for the Green PEA scheme to be recognised for this award. It has given the scheme the national recognition needed to develop on a pan Dorset basis as well as highlighted the importance of the scheme in terms of its benefit to the local green economy and environment. Commercial Electric Vehicle Socket Scheme

There is some good news for the continued growth of electric vehicles and electric vehicle charge points. From November 21st, businesses are to be offered £300 per installation of an electric vehicle (EV) charging socket across their sites under a new scheme.
A £7.5 million fund is to be made available to workplaces for the provision of installing chargers for use by staff and fleet vehicles equivalent to 25,000 new installations. Continue reading
